I like his attitude. As a former localization engineer, I know many stories about Engrish in Europe as well as all the Chinese ones that are familiar to use now. Some of the European examples are fundamental mistranslations (in the Louvre for example, the phrase "pour reseignements, demandez a la caisse" is translated as "for information, ask to the cashier"), while others are correct translations whose phrasing and tone are strange to English speakers. Even if one knows correct grammar, one can not necessarily make good translations.
