Well, what we're trying to do is figure out whether

My suggestion is to take full texts (of some length
that would make them a reasonable sample -- I'm still
not sure how to handle this) that are already known
to be of differing degrees of difficulty (by means
other than readability formulae -- pull them from
school textbooks from different grades, for example).
Do the more difficult ones have a greater proportion
of "big" words and "long" sentences (however you
choose to measure those)?
As to the texts you supplied, well, they're short and
weird. I don't think they'd make good test samples.
