Seems to me, Jim, that you have been using the list quite normally. Both for
(relevant) moral support and for technical stuff.* 

And when the topic strays into OT-land, some kind-hearted folks usually
manage to wrest it back into Technical Communication. By the way, it's a
normal part of human communication that a topic under discussion becomes OT,
eventually, somehow.

*In fact, I wish I had been as lucky as you in getting a relevant job
(probably, many on this list have this sentiment). Kudos to you.

Having been out of work for a month didn't give me the opportunity to ask
specific questions about tech writing tools, work situations and the like.
But, being in the market and participating in interviews has given me
insight into things that a lot of people don't experience that often. 

And, to be honest, the only reason I was hired last week was because of the
posts from everyone here regarding interview strategies, etc.  Thanks
everyone.

So, now that I'm gainfully employed, I can now post questions like:  "The
software installation tells me to press any key; I don't have an Any key"
:^)  And before I accepted the Most Likely to Post honor I did some
checking.  I'm actually fifth in the number of posts for the month of
December.
