I've only had a brief exposure to IM and didn't drink the
kool-aid. My impression was that the IM approach is, "your readers are idiots who need to be led around by
rings in their noses," so it wouldn't surprise me a bit if
IM calls for directions that are as close as possible to drawing a big arrow pointing to Step 1.
