TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Well Tom, we'd like you to come to work for us. Do you have any questions?
Yes, may I go use the restroom? Before I say 'Yes', I want to see what kind
of toilet paper you use here. That's important to a technical writer in case
we run out of note paper. (I had to tie this into TW somehow).
I never thought of that before. As a technical writer, I make it a point of
learning something new every day. Hey, I can go home now.

Subject: RE: Interviewing Strategies
Good point -- you're scoping out the company as much as it's scoping you (or
you should be).
I have never forgotten the advice of a 1970's Ms. Magazine article that
advised not to go to work for a company where they provide only "industrial
strength" toilet paper. They will be just as penny-pinching and insensitive
to employees' comfort in every other area, too.
In a career of more than three decades this silly little note has always
proven true.
