I do hope that beginning and aging tech writers won't overlook the
opportunities for service and gainful employment in the not-for-profit
sector. Flexible schedules, nice people, and worthwhile mission are just
some of the perks.

Employee and volunteer handbooks, visitor guides, quality manuals,
newsletters, outreach publications, and grant proposals are just a few of
the possible applications. Students still in school can build an impressive
portfolio with such projects.
