I use virtual yellow stickies for that: yellow highlighter.

I never have found a need for anything other than just seeing that the item
is yellow to recall what needs to be done.

So when you do 2 of them and you know there are 117 left to fix -- and you
only found those two in passing and couldn't resist fixing them on the spot
-- just do a Find/Replace that applies the style to the term throughout the
document, and then go your merry way.
