When all you have is a hammer...

Most people doing the interviewing wouldn't know the difference
between the two if it hit them in the head. Picture an HR person
understanding the ramifications to creating a 5,000 page document set
for an enterprise application. To them, and to most others who have
never done that, the difference is 5,000 times what iks involved in
creating one page...they don't understand that it is a difference in
approach, not a difference in the number of words.

So, since they don't know how to create an evaluation method for a
large project, they have you write coffeemaker instructions and
figure you only need to multiply the effort by 5,000.

As far as whether small projects are still around, I get contacted
for 30-90 day gigs all the time. I just ignore them, I'm not
interested in that kind of work.
