1. Check the date on the pack of coffee.


2. Find the instruction manual for the coffee machine. Read it and learn how
to operate the machine.
3. Make a pot of coffee.

Since I'm under-privileged in comparison with many people on this list, I
have never used (or owned) a coffee machine myself. Therefore, the above
would probably be my answer to the kind of question posed.

OTOH, I *have* tediously written a pseudo-manual on how to use a primitive
gas-ring or electric kettle to heat the water and use it to make instant
coffee - replete with dire warnings about gas/electricity/hot water being
potentially painful or lethal :-) This was a formative exercise during my
first few weeks on my first TW job.
