Two competing recruiting firms. I've had situations where I was getting resumes from four different staffing agencies.
Do you think they submit you to companies for free? You don't care about their commission, but believe me, THEY do.
They build their reputation by sending companies candidates who get hired.

They probably also want an idea of whether you might take yourself out of the candidate pool by accepting a job for which they will not receive a commission, or by turning down a job they find for you.

See "um...what?" above. What do I care if they receive a commission or not?
Are you saying that recruiters who receive a commission work harder for the
candidate?
