$1,000/finished minute?? That sounds pretty crazy...that'd run $360,000 for
this company's six hours?

Ours was an finished instructional video, not a straight recording. I'm
sure that the price would be different for a "talking heads" record, and
it's probably worth hiring somebody who has the right lighting equipment,
sound recording equipment, etc. -- and a person who knows how to use them --
rather than renting or even buying a camera and tripod without those extra
goodies

Per finished minute means just that....you pay for finished minutes NOT the six hours of shooting as David surmised. It's a standard in the industry and actually places pressure on the videographer/editor to make efficient use of their time. The $1,000 per finished minute is pretty standard for professional quality programs regardless of where you live; although, in smaller populations you could probably negotiate the fee downward slightly. The fee pays for the labor, plus use of the pre- and post-production equipment. Creating a solid video production is not something you do in an afternoon with a home VHS recorder...it takes good equipment, programs and experience.
