<kind of veering OT, but maybe this info is in your recorder's
documentation?>

When you get one of the recorders you bought, can I add chapters so that
I can jump to specific events on the tape. For example, I'd like to
convert our wedding video and other great family memories.

After all the family things are done, I'd get to my fun project. I have
a single VHS tape of all the times I've played in bands <pitiful that it
fits on one tape> interspersed with snips of some Beavis & Butthead
cartoons and other stuff. A former co-worker took my stack of VHS tapes
in 1994 and created it for me. What I'd want to do is be able to jump to
a chapter that would be defined by me. Right now, I have to FF to where
I want to go. Can you set up things like that on the recorder you
bought? If not, I think I want to go the DVD-burner-in-the-PC route and
use DVD authoring equipment, right? <I'm asking for confirmation>.

Last year I bought a DVD player/recorder for about $100, and I'm very
happy with the VHS tapes that it converted to DVD.
