I'm using it for that very purpose, so I certainly hope so!

I concur with the recommendation for a nice big monitor; I have a
thousand and one windows open most of the time.

Depending on what kind of product you're documenting, you may also want
to consider whether some kind of virtual machine software (and a
computer that can run it!) might be of use to you. I'm currently
finding it invaluable for running builds on; our product requires a
different OS from the one on my laptop (meaning I can't run it) and
there are very rarely servers free. The ability to snapshot the virtual
machine in various states of installation/configuration is proving
pretty invaluable too. Only having to install the product once to
uninstall it five times while I make different notes has been something
of a timesaver.
