One other note -- don't be too proud to edit your resume and apply for jobs
that you can do, but might be "beneath" your skillset.

For instance, as a tech writer/ISO specialist I edited to emphasize my QC/QA
experience and applied for a job posted in the newspaper as Quality
Coordinator. It was local and I was miserable in my Keep-The-Wolf-Away call
center job.

This interview did not get me the job (there was a better-qualified
candidate). However, it did get my resume in front of the person who was
looking for a tech writer/ISO specialist but didn't dare hope there might be
one available locally and wasn't ready to conduct a nationwide hunt.

Perfect match, and we're still in love.

Rule #1 -- Thou Must Get Thy Resume in Front of The Guy What Does The Hiring
(not the HR office).

Rule #2 -- 98% of Anything Is Showing Up.
