When you guys are doing a job search, how do you

I even signed an agreement to that effect. Any advice

You can explain to them that all your previous work was proprietary and ask if you could develop samples that would satisfy their needs. I've done this in the past with fairly good results. Or, have you done any writing outside of your work?
