As Al G. said, it kinda fell flat; I was thinking - get with it, brother.

Also, there is another consideration: technical manuals and guides come packaged with gadgets or software, and no one really buys them (although the costs are considered while packaging and marketing the products). An appealing style, winning over the heart of the readers - is not required; nor welcome in technical documents.

In newspapers, books, movies, or other stuff which are bought, read/watched, and appreciated 'stand-alone' (on their own merits), colorful use of language is a means to grab eyeballs and unburden the wallets.

Technical literature (not bundled with products) such as textbooks or coffee table books on the history or genealogy of some technology - now, they are a different kettle of tea.
