I'm not quite sure what you are referring to by "hard return" and
"soft return", since that is not FrameMaker terminology. I'm
assuming that one is a line feed and the other is a paragraph
break, but it's hard to guess which of these is "hard" and which
is "soft".

But either way, the answer is to use the "escape code" for the
symbol, as listed in Appendix A of the FrameMaker manual or the
online PDF manual "FrameMaker Character Sets". For a line break,
the code is "\n" (without the quotes, and for a paragraph break
the code is "\p". Note that this *must* be a lower-case p
because "\P" (with a capital P) is the code for the *beginning* of
a paragraph rather than the pilcrow at the end of a paragraph.

Is anyone aware of a way to search for a hard return in Frame and replace it with a soft return? I'm re-tagging content in Frame in text boxes and the replacing all the hard returns with soft ones is time-consuming.
