The codebase for the product I work on (Flex) is stored in a content
management system called Perforce (think Visual Source Safe, but with
lots of additional functionality for programmers). You have to check a
file out to change it, and check it back in to generate a new build of
the product.

Everytime ANY class, properties file, graphic, or ant script gets so
much as touched, I get an email notification with the developer's
description of the change and links to diffs and all the files involved
in the change. The problem is I might get hundreds of emails a day, but
I can't miss a check in, that's for sure.

I thought it was pretty much a given that all large-scale software
projects have a system like this in place -- maybe all you have to do is
get yourself on the notification lists.
