I am considering learning to use Flash and wanted to take a quick
generalized poll of tech writers. Do you use Flash on the job? What do
you use it for?

I embed Flash content all the time in demos and e-learning packages.
Flash animations *can* add considerable value to demos and educational
materials if used sparingly; beware the tendency to overuse it, as
there is nothing more deadly than staring at a bunch of overlong
animations with long boring voiceovers describing product features in
excruciating detail.

Keep things short and simple.

I use TechSmith Camtasia or Adobe Captivate to create my Flash embeds,
by the way, and so far have managed to be happy and productive without
learning a single important thing about Flash. :-) Camtasia is so
easy that basically anyone who can use a screen capture program can
use it; Captivate has a little more of a learning curve but is much
more versatile.
