TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I think it's more likely that something like this, if added as-is to the current ISO library, will merely boost the rate at which US companies are losing interest in pursuing ISO certification. The last four companies I've worked for/with were not ISO compliant and had no intention of pursuing certification (one of them had actually achieved it years earlier and had subsequently decided not to maintain it). However, I would agree that it's still a good idea to at least try to inject a note of reality into this boondoggle.
