TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
With the discussion of dispensing with printed documentation, I thought I'd pass along the following blog entry
"FedEx delivered a Safari top yesterday for the Jeep and I spent an exhausting hour trying to put it on. Unsuccessful, I decided to try again this morning by reading the directions and would you believe it only took 10 minutes to read the directions 5 times and 5 more minutes to install the top. Elated, I drove to town hoping it wouldn't blow off at 55 and it didn't. Anyway, it was a delightful day for a tour of the back roads of Leelanau County."
At least one person has a better appreciation for the work we do. Knowing that he is a retired engineer might explain his reluctance to start by reading the directions. <g>
