I am willing to bet, and I'm not a betting person, the majority of
responses are going to be "What ever works best for you."

Personally, I have always put the anchor on a separate line, both in
Unstructured (which is what it sounds like you are using) and in
Structured Frame.

I went to a very popular book on FrameMaker, The Complete Reference,
FrameMaker 7, by Sarah O'Keefe and Shiela Loring. The examples they show
(page 303) all indicate putting the anchor in the same line as the text.

Hello everyone,

I've got a really basic best practices Frame question, about inserting
images. I was always taught (by STC-award-winning tech writers) that the
anchor for an image belongs on its own line. However, I've seen people
place the anchor on the same line as the text before the image (whether
that's the caption or just text), but I've never understood that. To me,
it's easier to see and grab the marker if it's on its own line, plus the
image can get too close to the text. It's just messier to me.

I've typically worked with templates (built by me and others) that use
an anchor paragraph style. For example, the template I'm updating now
has captions at the top and the anchor style (a 2-pt style) as the next
paragraph. My co-worker doesn't get why this is useful, and I don't get
why the other way is any better.

Is there a best practices method for inserting images in Framemaker?

Thanks!

-Stacia
