I need to find out if a handful of state holidays are actually official bank
holidays (financial institutions are closed) rather than just named days
where business goes on as usual.

I found several good, complete lists of holidays. In most cases, the
relevant state web sites had a page for their Department of Banking or
Department of Financial Institutions that had a listing of state-level
holidays where banks were closed, and I could verify whether the
state-specific dates were, in fact, bank holidays. In a few cases, though,
I've come up blank.

The critical dates right now are:

July 24 Utah Pioneer Day
Aug 14 Rhode Island Victory Day
Aug 16 Vermont Bennington Battle Day
Aug 27 Texas LBJ's Birthday
Aug 30 Louisiana Huey P. Long Day

I'd appreciate pointers to online or traditional library sources, or even
personal anecdotes such as "MY bank always closes on Victory Day."

It would be helpful if you could copy the reply to my current day-job email,
since this research is for them:
