The vast majority of Wikipedia contributors do a proper job. Yes, there are rogue individuals but there are enough "watchers" and "editors" - in virtually every time zone - to counter their damage.

In one study, IBM measured the correction of vandalism on Wikipedia; the median time was 5 minutes.
