TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Technical writers and engineers must now be aware of all types of
accessibility issues, including the various forms of colorblindness. The
US Federal government has accessibility standards, which means that
anything you produce for them has to meet the standards, and anything
you produce for someone who produces for them *also* has to meet the
standards.
David, I immediately have a question for you. Your description implies
(at least to me) that underlining hyperlinks is not sufficient for
colorblind users. Is that correct, or did I misread your message? What
typographical standards/distinctive treatment do you recommend?
I am not committed to coloring links. My desire is to format links in a
way that is most familiar to all users.

So I'll admit right off the bat that this is probably very late to add
much to the discussion. Don't blame me for a holiday weekend (and a
great one it was).
