IMO, those are famous last words.  If your [client?] firm bids on or
wins a government contract, forms a joint venture, merges, is sold
... somebody will ask, "Can we have those those IT disaster recovery
procedures?"  Then you're scrambling.

I'd suggest XHTML too, for (I think) the same reasons:  simplicity
and portability

But let's clear something up:  well-formed XHTML is well-formed XML.
 Malformed XHTML isn't XML, just as any malformed XML isn't XML.
There's no such thing as "true XML", there is only well-formedness
and conformance to a DTD.

A proper XHTML file will be well-formed and conform to one of the
public XHTML DTDs, therefore it *is* XML without qualification.

XML is a general-purpose scheme for creating special-purpose markup
languages, of which XHTML is one.
