Typically, telephone interviews are mainly a
screen-out technique - especially when done with human
resources.  As such, your primary objective is not so
much to sell yourself, but to avoid "stepping on a
land mind" by saying the wrong thing.  You strive to
get by this "gate" to get a face-to-face interview.

Exception: If the phone interview is with the hiring
manager, and the company is rather entrepreneurial in
nature, then you may have some opportunity to sell
yourself in a telephone interview.
