Coming full-circle, most desktop Linux folks have no use for browser
"helper" apps, where outside handlers are automatically spawned
based on the MIME-type of downloaded files ... and then run them.
It's okay to remember what I usually use to open this or that, but I
need to be asked before it runs.
So there are three states: (1) always ask what I want to do with
anything not sent as `text/html` (or comparable); (2) ask, but
remember what I've used before, for convenience; and (3) remember
what I've used before to open [MIME-type], and just do it. That
third choice trades vulnerability for convenience -- system
vulnerability and social vulnerability. Do not use.
