In Linda's defense, let me add this...

I asked her to send me a blank document from Word. It definitely was acting
the way she described -- although Page Setup said that she had the right
paper size, the Print Preview showed that the paper size was only 7.25 x 9.
I tried to reset the defaults, and it reset MY defaults. I "blew out" the
Normal.dot, and Word reconstructed it just as Linda said.

I opened the normal.dot template, and manipulated it by hand. I was able to
restore the settings. I then emailed a copy of the working normal.dot and
asked her to delete her template and install the new one.

I haven't heard from her as to whether or not this worked, but it should
have.

Yes, Word 2003 can show you only the area within the margins. I find this
especially helpful when I am working on a document with multiple tables or
images. I can see two separate pages at once by clicking on the line
between the two pages and making the white space disappear.
