Laurel, I've been using the free 30-day trial for a couple of weeks now. I
initially found that this plug-in could do basically everything the FM
conditional text feature can do--in fact, it looks and behaves almost
identically to the FM feature. However, you should be aware of at least two
things about this plug-in: (1) It's expensive ($149 U.S.) and (2) another
writer reported that he tried it on a lengthy doc and found it very slow. I
did several experiments with it but only with short docs, so I plan to do
something with a 200- or 300-page doc to see for myself.
One excellent thing about this plug-in is that you can completely
conditionalize table rows (including entire tables). In one of my
experiments, I autonumbered the rows in a three-row table as 1, 2, and 3,
then hid the condition applied to the middle row (number 2). Not only did
the entire row disappear (not just the content but the row itself), but the
first and third rows nicely renumbered as 1 and 2.

The things I learn on this list!
Did a search for info on using Word for BIG conditional text projects like
manuals for different audiences and not just the usual mailmerge letters ...
didn't find much, but did find some software that seems to make it much
easier. I'm going to try their free trial. http://www.livelinx.com/contentmanagement/conditional-text.html
