Hi, Carolyn:

Another poster suggested placing the content by using named ranges in Excel, but that's a feature in InDesign CS2 (InDesign 4) and you're using CS1 (InDesign 3.)

If you can't upgrade, you could consider exporting the content as comma-separated text files, and placing them.

However, in addition to the named-range Excel import, InDesign CS 2 is also improved in its table features.

I am thoroughly befuddled by this conundrum. Is there a more efficient
way to import Excel tables into InDesign than just copying and pasting
cell by cell as I am cluelessly doing? I'm on a Mac and using CS1 and
Excel 2004.
