Am I the only one who hates the way 'random' is abused?

My favorite misuse of that word was in an e-mail message we received
from someone who meant to describe his correspondence as out of the
blue. He said that he was randomly e-mailing my wife and me to invite
us to his wedding.

I guess I should have thanked him for his random invite that he sent
to myself and myself's wife, eh?.
