Maybe "invite" as a noun is because of too many Beverly Hillbillies and Dukes of Hazard reruns.

Invite used as a noun
-- Did you get the meeting invite?
-- Can you work up an invite for that event?
-- I'll send the invite tomorrow.

What ever happened to "invitation"??? When did it die?
Why wasn't I notified? <sigh>
