Not directly related to this thread but even more interesting
for anyone doing computer-related documentation is the page
http://physics.nist.gov/cuu/Units/binary.html
(which for some reason is not linked to from the NIST Units
home page).

I'll bet that no more than a small percentage of the members
of this list were even aware of the existence of the proposed
new prefixes to distinguish "binary thousands" (2^10=1024),
"binary millions" (2^20=1,048,576), and "binary billions"
(2^30=1,073,741,824) from their decimal cousins in the SI
system.

My opinions only; I don't speak for Intel.

Brought up by this discussion, a great reference for expressing and
typesetting units:http://physics.nist.gov/Pubs/pdf.html

A wealth of other units and measurement based info is also available from
NIST.
