Hail all you hardware veterans! I need some assistance here.
My co-worker and I are trying to recover Outlook personal files (.psd)
I think you mean .pst. I wouldn't want you to go searching for Photoshop .psd files when you're looking for Outlook files.
from a fried hard drive. The user in question moved his personal
folder off the Exchange server onto his local drive at one point.
Later on his drive got fried (I don't know how, though I've been
trying to find out), and won't boot up. So he needs to get those files
recovered.
We can't boot from the drive at all, but my co-worker used
EasyRecovery to get to the drive. But she can only access the drive's
system files--the .ini files and such.
Any ideas or suggestions? Or are we pretty much SOL?
Clarifying questions:
You can't boot from the drive, but you can read the drive across the network? You can read it by physically installing it as a slave drive in a different machine?
When you read the drive, can you see the directory (folder) structure? Or do you just see the root-level files and not see any folders? (I'm trying to figure out by what you mean when you say "she can only access the drive's system files--the .ini files and such.")
Do you know if the drive was partitioned into logical drives on the original machine? Are you able to get to the setup screen of that machine if you need to?
