I will take 25 to 1 since with all the discussion about scoping on here the last couple of days, I am not sure what the prevailing definition is at the moment. :) However, my old TW text from Michigan Tech "The Technical Communicator's Handbook" by Dan Jones, discusses scoping in the terms of both defining your document and creating a plan for your document. Does that count?

Bonnie:

What book? I will bet 50 to one that no TW book exists that talks about how to determine the scope of a system. And scoping is probably THE major input to time estimating!

Tony Markos

P.S. I have already read alot of TW books.

Bonnie Granat:

... I would recommend consulting a few books that treat how to do so [determine the scope of a system] if you have no applicable experience in conducting research.
