You nailed the crux of my problem...the level of inexperience in the basic program they will be using to develop both the printed and online documentation. However, they also recognize this problem and have since asked me to train the developer in both Word and whatever program is decided upon for the Help. Obviously what they need is a TW onboard (or at least on retainer) that would maintain their documentation while allowing the developer to focus on developing. It would save them money and frustration in the long run.
