In defense of Irfanview (IV), it has a lot of features beyond screen
capture, and the author doesn't seem to be making a lot of noise about
charging for it. SnagIt (SI) is $40, so if IV is less...
Note that SI has a lot more screen capture features. IV can only capture
windows, leaving you to further edit them. SI can capture just about
anything; it can even capture the *text* out of some types of messages
and dialogs, and it can capture *print output*.
So, I suggest you evaluate features first.
Notes:
Paint Shop Pro can also do captures, captures more than just windows,
and is easy to use. Once upon a time, when I was a lad, PSP was
shareware, but no longer.
I'm not by any means an Adobe expert, but as far as I can tell the
Gojira of graphics programs Adobe Photoshop does not offer capture! Is
this *right*?
