Thing is, there's nothing at all wrong with "so lost". It's the "this is
so an inconvenience" usage that's awkward. They're not the same thing.
The second is odd, I think, because it feels like there's a word
missing. Or like it's really supposed to be: "This is such an
inconvience."

Curiously, we just had this conversation over on Copyeditors-L.
