Getting off-topic, but I think it's more a matter of what you
choose to devote your resources to, rather than what you
can afford to devote them to. For example, the insurance
and copays for my wife's and my medical are about $1000
each month, and our "quality of life" is most definitely tied to our ability to afford that.
