I learned that the "Brotschriftgrößen" (the font sizes used most) are from 9-12 points for body
text. Or were in the times of actual typesetting.

If it's about saving space, does your font have light variant?
For example, I reduced the font size in our product catalogue and went from MyriadPro Regular to
MyriadPro Light in order to achieve a more elegant appearance and to save space.
