TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Of course, you could have an FM editable flat file version and simply
open another window in Frame without having to have Word running
simultaneously--but I suppose that is a bit too simple.
As I said, I still fail to see any advantage to having it in Word
format. It appears mostly to be simply something that you were already
familiar with--and not willing to use Frame since it was new to you,
although the practice would undoubtedly have been worthwhile.
Personally, I dislike having too many large applications running at
the same time since that increases the likelihood of system crashes,
Windows' famous memory leaks, etc.
I, too, have appreciated the Microtype .pdf file.
