The purpose of an anchored frame is to connect a graphic to a
particular point in a text flow so that it will be repositioned (to
a different place on the same page or to a different page) as
the text expands or contracts due to editing.

The purpose of master pages is to allow you to place objects
such as headers, footers, and graphics in the same position on
the page regardless of the way the text flows, and to define
the size and position of the text frame(s) into which the body
text will flow. But it's important to note that the body text
frame(s) on a master page is a *dummy* frame--nothing that
you put inside that frame (text, tables, graphics in anchored
frames) will actually appear on the body pages.

If you want to put something on a master page so that it will
appear on the body pages, you need to put it in a background
text frame (like the default frames for the header and footer)
or in a graphic frame that is directly placed on the master page.
This graphic frame can be in the margin area for something like
a logo, or it can overlap the dummy body text frame if you
need to do something like a watermark. Note that this graphic
frame is *not* an anchored frame; it's placed directly on the
master page. When you're viewing master pages, the body
text frame may behave as if it is a text flow, but it's just a
dummy flow in a dummy text frame. Only background text
frames have real text flows whose content will appear in the
background of the body pages.

Since the conditional text feature only works on text, if you
need to conditionalize a master page graphic, it needs to be
contained in an ancored frame so that it is connected to a
text paragraph. And that means that you need to use a
background text frame so that you can insert the graphic
in an anchored frame in a paragraph.

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how to make an object inside an anchored frame on a master
page appear on a body page? I'm using FM 7.

Alternatively, is there a way to make a graphic object on a master page
conditional, other than putting it inside an anchored frame?

Hoping someone can help,
