I believe that if you check in the styles that are applied to your
'headings', you will find one that resets the numbering.
If you do not have MS Word "open", follow these steps to see the styles
associated with your document.
1: Click "Start"
2. Select MS Word
3. Open your document
4. Click View
5. Click Normal
6. Click Tools
7. Click Options
8. Click View
9. Set Style Area Width to 1"
10. Click OK
11. Review the 'style' of the heading 3 that is in error.
12. Click on "Format, Style'
(It is possible that in the settings/format of the 'paragraph'
did not 'inherit' from the previous Heading 3.
If necessary, you can go to the start of your document, select the 'first'
Heading 3, modify the Style, select the automatic update, apply the style,
then reset the Automatic Update. Doing this, you can update 'every place' that
the Heading 3 exists.
Of course, if you have several 'structures of 'Heading 2' you will have to
modify all of them.
This also addresses the 'standardization of styles' that has been in a
separate thread on the TECHWR-L list.
Hope this helps in your solution.
