Hi Tara,

Some quick points that you may consider while going for online help for portal.

- Platform on which the portal will accessed, browser to be usd.  You
may like to use pure HTML.
- Security aspects:  Will all the users be able to access all the
pages of portal?  If 'no', then same should happen with help pages.
- You may not use TOC but surely use adequate hyperlinking to jump to
resepctive help topics.
- Look and Feel: Either simple black and white or same as the portal.
- Take care of pop-up blocker mechanism, if help page will open in its
own window.
- Information flow on each help topic: Introduction to the page, what
a user can on the page and how, details of entry fields (for
error-free data entry)

I belive many more points will come from more experienced members...
