Perhaps you could expand a bit on where you are seeing "consistent and structured patterns" in IT documentation.
I'm not seeing anything that I think resembles that.

A good user guide will certainly help the end user (O&M
professionals in this cae). I browsed through the websites of most of
the manufacturing majors in this vertical and managed to go through
'user-guides'. Most of them don't follow the consistent and structured
pattern maintained in regular IT user guides.
