I'm remiss in not mentioning the Firefox Scrapbook extension.

http://amb.vis.ne.jp/mozilla/scrapbook/

This, folks, is cooler and more useful than ... I dunno, sneakers or an index finger or Renée Zellweger.

Install the extension. Restart Firefox (or Mozilla). Browse to a page you want to save a copy of. Right-click, choose `Capture Page`. Throw 'em all in a big pile, or create folders to organize what you've saved, as you would with Bookmarks. But they're not Bookmarks. Everything's saved locally, including images if you like.

It gets better. First select some text (or text and images) on the page. Right-click and choose `Capture Selection`. Save as with a whole page, organizing as you go.

It gets better. Choose `View -> Sidebar -> ScrapBook` (Alt-K). Navigate through your locally-saved ScrapBook. Or do a free-text search.

It gets better. Any saved page in your ScrapBook may be edited, marked-up with highlights, and supplemented with your comments.

Superior method for organizing research. Inherently offline-friendly. Since your ScrapBook is saved locally, desktop search tools can index it. Obviously it'll work for intranet content and anything else you can view in Firefox/Mozilla.

Must-have.
