We have "quads" rather than standard cubicles. They are oversized cubes (maybe 18 feet square) that seat four people--one in each corner--with a large central table (ours is covered with partially disassembled printer carcasses, plastic balls to throw at each other, and assorted Zebra-striped toys). Half-walls on two sides allow us to talk over the walls to our Tech Pubs coworkers in the other quad or to people passing by. A walkway circles the perimeter of our 3rd floor vantage, so you can always see out a window at the nice landscaping and multiple ponds outside. The powers that be have offices on the inner walls, so we can actually see outside more easily than they can.

The area is a little noisy at times, but it's nice for the most part. At the moment, there is a temporary absence of voices, and I can hear people typing 25 or more feet away. You truly feel like part of a team here because you sit within eye and ear shot of your coworkers. Can you tell how much I love this atmosphere? :-) There's essentially no privacy--everyone knows what's going on with everyone nearby--but there are small privacy conference rooms for when you need a private moment for a discussion or phone call.
