TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
In some companies I've worked at, importance could be determined by
whether that person had a wooden desk as opposed to Formica, so having a
private office would make rank you up with senior management. So chipper
up--while having your own office may seem to be putting on airs, it can
also enhance your mystique, perhaps giving you the air of an irreplaceable
resource ;)
You're in an ideal situation, people are watching you waiting to see if
you're worth the all the attention. So enjoy the privacy, produce manuals
like crazy, and prove them correct!
