Get yourself invited to team meetings, even if it they are only
marginally relevant to your immediate work. You will often pick up
interesting bits of information about a project, and more importantly,
you will be seen by developers in "their" environment, not just in
"your" tech writers' corner.

And don't forget to reach out socially. Whatever the practice is in
your office, be it cakes on birthdays, or drinks in the pub on Friday
lunchtimes, include the developers, and soon enough they'll incude you.
